Stick em Up

02 July 2009, 15.36 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

My partner Nathan and I just got back from NY for the Bicycle Film Festival. It was an amazing trip and a total whirlwind. Sorry to all the cats we couldn’t catch. I have some images to post and stories to tell but until then i’ll leave you with this.

Both myself and Nathan have a thing for knives and we could help ourselves when we paid a visit to the good folks at Kiosk. Scooped up the top two knives. The Produce Knife and the Japanese Carpenter Knife will fit into the quiver quite well.

Down By the Weep Hole

03 June 2009, 10.18 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

We are very proud to present this film on the Stupor Bowl, the oldest, most nasty, most freezing cold messenger race in the world. Directed by Nathaniel and produced by Freeman Transport and Behind Bars. It premiers in New York at the Bicycle Film Festival June 21st. Look out for us in the city especially on Saturday June 20th at the street fair. Stop by and say hello and we’ll give you a cold beer.

Royal Road Test

Today I got the nicest little gift from my friends at Open Bicycle. Along with it was a typed note which made me think about two things, ”how many bike shops have typewriters in them?”

and how much I love the work of Ed Ruscha. Especially his books and of course in this instance “Royal Road Test”

Thanks again guys!

Just got my Spring/Summer 09 box from Freeman’s Sporting Club. As always, the fabrics are great, cut is on and the wash is butter. Thanks Martin. I owe you!

Rapha Drop

06 May 2009, 14.43 | Posted in Uncategorized | 2 comments »

Just received a nice little package from the Rapha camp. The cap and jersey are without a doubt the nicest cycling garb I have ever worn. Tomorrow morning’s ride will put it to the test. (You listening Selden!)

In July I am hosting the Rapha Continental Crew for a little ride Montana style. Really looking forward to it.

RIDE: Pintler Loop | MILES: 100 | LOCATION: Missoula, MT

With the Sapphire Mountains to the East, the Flint Range to the West and the Pintler Mountain Range to the North, this ride features spectacular views in every direction. From Drummond past Philpsburg, up to Georgetown lake, over to Rock Creek and then back along the Flint Creek Grade the Pintler Loop, a 100 mile loop out of Missoula, Montana, is a roubaix-style classic.

The Goose Has Landed

It’s officially chino season here in Montana. At least in was on Monday at 70°. This morning I woke up to snow. Ahh Montana weather.

Anyhow, in my small book of rules number 26 reads “Never, ever, under any condition, wear a jean jacket with jeans.” So now that I’m rocking my 5EP chinos on the daily, I stack the jean jacket on top. I still regret never popping the Margiela jean jacket with the Lee zig-zag stitch down the front. Over-dyed and out-of-reach at the time. From that point on, I’ve been on the hunt for the original sanforized Lee Rider Jacket. And today it fell on me.

Jackass Pants

17 April 2009, 14.25 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

I’ve never been one for country clubs or last names as firsts. But tennis I love. I remember once, Franklin Foster invited me to play in the member/non-member tennis tournament at Bedford Golf and Tennis. We killed it and I think i’ll go down in history as the first jewish kid with his name on the cup. They were pissed for sure. Side note: The Clintons wanted to move to Bedford but decided against it after being denied membership at the country club.

Anyhow, last night my old pal Selden Benett Daume II gave me a pair of vintage Nantucket Reds. From Murrays, made in the USA. I used to group pink pants and madras pants in the same catagory as “things never to wear.” My dad and I used to refer to these as ”jackass pants”

For some reason I couldn’t resist the Jackasses. Was it the broken-in chino, the taboo color, the wrath of comments i knew i’d get from my wife…ah fuck it! Today I rocked em with a navy 45RPM polo and mesh Ivan Lendls.

Here are a few classics to get you in the spirit

Open is open

Our new friends at Open are open. From the looks of things this shop/gallery is going to be a welcome addition to the Boston cycling community. Located at 285 Washington Street at the corner of Hawkins, the space was once the home of titanium superstar Merlin and the renovated shop looks amazing. Nothing better than creative folks entering the cycling industry.

Stop by if you are in the Boston area and look out for some Freeman Transport goodies.
