The Goose Has Landed

It’s officially chino season here in Montana. At least in was on Monday at 70°. This morning I woke up to snow. Ahh Montana weather.

Anyhow, in my small book of rules number 26 reads “Never, ever, under any condition, wear a jean jacket with jeans.” So now that I’m rocking my 5EP chinos on the daily, I stack the jean jacket on top. I still regret never popping the Margiela jean jacket with the Lee zig-zag stitch down the front. Over-dyed and out-of-reach at the time. From that point on, I’ve been on the hunt for the original sanforized Lee Rider Jacket. And today it fell on me.

Jackass Pants

I’ve never been one for country clubs or last names as firsts. But tennis I love. I remember once, Franklin Foster invited me to play in the member/non-member tennis tournament at Bedford Golf and Tennis. We killed it and I think i’ll go down in history as the first jewish kid with his name on the cup. They were pissed for sure. Side note: The Clintons wanted to move to Bedford but decided against it after being denied membership at the country club.

Anyhow, last night my old pal Selden Benett Daume II gave me a pair of vintage Nantucket Reds. From Murrays, made in the USA. I used to group pink pants and madras pants in the same catagory as “things never to wear.” My dad and I used to refer to these as ”jackass pants”

For some reason I couldn’t resist the Jackasses. Was it the broken-in chino, the taboo color, the wrath of comments i knew i’d get from my wife…ah fuck it! Today I rocked em with a navy 45RPM polo and mesh Ivan Lendls.

Here are a few classics to get you in the spirit

Open is open

Our new friends at Open are open. From the looks of things this shop/gallery is going to be a welcome addition to the Boston cycling community. Located at 285 Washington Street at the corner of Hawkins, the space was once the home of titanium superstar Merlin and the renovated shop looks amazing. Nothing better than creative folks entering the cycling industry.

Stop by if you are in the Boston area and look out for some Freeman Transport goodies.

Happy 80th Birthday Zippicelli

Valentino Spedici Zippicelli with his beloved deep dish rims made of the finest balsa wood. I dream of 404s on my next road bike. Maybe for the Rapha Continental ride.
