I worked at the Baron Woolen Mills during the summer when the mill was owned and operated by my father, Rex Baron, and his two brothers, Duke (Lowell), and Dale Baron. They purchased the mill from their father, Rulon Baron.
The spinning "Mules" used in the '60s were some of the last ones in operation in the US. They were replaced by the spinning frames. I remember hearing that the last "Mule" was manufactured in 1897 or so. Over the years, I operated many of the machines in the mill. I never did learn to run the looms, wash-box, dryer, or napper.
The blankets were of the highest quality and lasted many many years.

I was born a Baron. James Baron is my great-grandfather. I have always been interested in preserving my families memories. I would like to see it restored and used as a musuem for pioneer textiles. James died when my grandpa was a little boy, but it makes me feel a real connection to my anscestors. I have found memories of the wool blankets in our home growing up. I am proud to say I am a Baron.
