Days of Sicily

10 February 2010, 21.01 | Posted in Fashion Week, Music, Wine | 119 comments »

Sicily is recurring often these days in our office and in my life:

1. On the next issue of PIG Mag (out the first days of March) we will have a beautiful fashion feature shot in Palermo (which is Sicily’s capital) by a Sicilian photographer called Yara De Nicola and our fashion editor Fabiana, who is also Sicilian. The picture above is a preview from that very shoot and features Sara, a beautiful Sicilian girl.

2. Depolique took us kids to see the concert of a new Italian band from Palermo called “Il Pan Del Diavolo” which means “The Bread of the Devil”. They are also out with their first album called “Sono all’osso” which is very nice.

3. Also on the April issue of PIG a very nice mens fashion editorial shot in Sicily by our Sean Michael Beolchini.

4. Rebecca (who works at Super – and isn’t from sicily :) recently wrote this post about the SS10 women’s catwalk by Dolce & Gabbana (who are Sicilian) and loved their new looks.

5. And to finish off the post, curiously this month I’m also tasting alot of wines from sicily. Sicily is relatively new to wine making in our country, but they are already the biggest region for quantity of land used for it. And I love them! So below I’ll suggest you a series of “Nero D’Avola” wines which is the most famous sicilian grape, exported worldwide. Some of the classic ones you can buy. I haven’t tasted them all yet but their names preceed me. I leave the judging to you :)

Donna Fugata: Contessa Entellina Mille e una notte (35€)

Le Botti di Antistene: Rosso della Noce (16€)

Morgante: Nero D’Avola Don Antonio (28€)

Tasca D’Almerita: Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte (27€)

Cusumano: Sagana (18€)

Firriato: Harmonium (20€)

Feudo Montoni: Vrucara (22€)

Planeta: Santa Cecilia (22€)

Gulfi: Nero Bufaleffj (30€)

Milano Fashion Week

25 September 2009, 11.32 | Posted in Fashion Week | 104 comments »

It’s fashion week here in Milano. We actually can’t say “week” anymore since Anna Wintour decided she didn’t want to stay in this city for a whole week, and all of Milano’s fashion schedule had to be squashed in 4 days… Anyway, I don’t particlularly like fashion week because there’s too many fashion victims running around our city talking gossip and quite boring-repeating topics. It’s a bit annoying. But I still manage to have some fun. A nice part of the week are the gifts you get when you attend events, I got a box from Prada yesterday, I still haven’t opened it but I think it’s a lady’s purse or something similar.

Going at the Nike showroom tonight and I’ll also play some music over there. I will also go also at the Trussardi cocktail party for the opening of their new store.

I don’t have any pictures to show you yet, but will post some next week. In the meantime here is a pic and link to the latest fashion editorial we made for our september issue of PIG Mag (photography by Sean Michael Beolchini, Styling by Ilaria Norsa)
